Ethereum developers are evaluating EIP-8198, known as Quick Slots, for the Hegotá upgrade to shorten block times from 12 seconds to eight or ten seconds. The proposal aims to speed up confirmations and reduce arbitrage losses while balancing validator performance and network decentralization.
